I still can’t believe i was able to attend Final Bout, I even got a ride with E-zap from the notorious HOTBOYZ and one of my homies Kevin from BOSSTOWN. Here’s a link to some of my photos on flickr, I’ll have a write up on Clutchkick.net soon
https://www.flickr.com/photos/37554084@N08/sets/72157646787656997/

Lots of uniquely cool cars
takes pictures of all the 240s

I wonder what’s stopping these guys from doing cool drifts. Still haven’t seen any cool things from final boat

I dont know if you’re aware how dumb what you just posted is or not?
It was a drift event, the same amount of drifting happened that would happen at any normal 2 day grassroots event. Just because part of the event was oriented around car style doesnt mean it was a bad event. There was plenty of great driving and wall taps and bumper explosions.
However, if you truly did not see one single cool clip and were wanting to just look on instagram, not like many other grassroots events have full videos 2-3 days afterwards as a rule. There is also supposed to be a DVD or something.

Just saying I would love to see some actually cool driving, these cars are all just immigrating Japanese cars some down to every detail. They are just missing the part where in japan, they drive the fuck out of the cars. Similar to that orange 180 that was at DUI. Everyone took pictures of it but in the end of the day, the guy did about 2 laps the whole weekend without spinning then crashed it on the way home. Level of money > level of driving . Show me clips, I’ve been looking, it’s all slow, low cars, drifting far away from one another with no smoke, angle or anything . Just seems very boring to me

well, I suppose this is the problem with drifting at this point in time. “cool” drifting is so subjective because there are so many different aspects of it now that it depends on what niches you are into as an enthusiast. there is no “right” way to look at drifting. For some people a functional formula d car laying down a hefty smoke train is what they want to see, or maybe someone prefers to see an ae86 with 150hp thrashing 4th gear entries and displaying maximum driver skill, for some they want to see cars that are dressed up and very low and not necessarily set up well to drift sliding around corners even if it doesn’t seem impressive to people that occupy other niches within the sport.
I really don’t think there was a lack of driver skill. the hotboyz and animal style dudes are definitely good drivers, and although I haven’t seen a massive amount of footage of the chicago locals driving (although I know a lot exists but I’m speaking more specifically of onboard clips that may impress you with driving skill) I know they have a lot of seat time and have been in it for a long time.
I apologize for saying what you said at first was dumb, but its too subjective to say that no cool drifting happened, because there are tons of people including myself that would disagree, and even then we are back at square one.
no one will ever be right, you just gotta do the type of drifting you like I suppose, I think that there should be an effort made by everyone in drifting to not put down any other niche in drifting just because you are interested in another, although I am even guilty of that, i should try to make a point not to do it.

your right cool is all what each person thinks it is, but when i see pictures, and clips, at a drift event, with just constant straightening, very little angle when drifting, spinning, crashing into eachother? ( seems to be a cool thing to do ) i just don’t have any respect for that really//
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75M-gxDzOkA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgomUo1tBbI
The second video really shows the quality of driving.. one of the only actual smooth lines in my opinion was Paul . Everyone else is either spinning, straightening, locking up brakes and over all just looking lame…
again, show me some actual drifting then maybe my opinion will sway, but this event was just hype. Just do a car show.

i don’t need to make you have any respect for it, but the point was more about people driving from across north america to meet up and hang out and drift. some of the drivers probably don’t have much seat time and whether it was hype or not it doesn’t mean it had to be a car show??? its a drift event, the level of driving does not mean it is or is not a drift event.
either way, i don’t have much else to say. there was a lot of cool looking cars that were driven on a track, regardless of driver skill. that doesn’t make it not a drift event and it doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to have an event just cause you think they aren’t good enough at driving. I’m sure you would have been stoked on drifting if you went to your first event and spun out a bunch and people were like “wow thats so gay you should just quit and do a car show”
